He is the director of the bioinformatics and proteomics platforms of the Research Center of the CHU de Québec – Université Laval. He is also a member of the Cancer Research Center. He holds a master’s degree in bioinformatics from Paul-Sabatier University in Toulouse and a doctorate from Laval University.

He is an expert in developing statistical and machine learning approaches to extract information on understanding biological mechanisms from omics datasets. His research group has participated in the development of numerous bioinformatics tools for the analysis, management and visualization of genomics and proteomics data. He is a renowned developer on the R / Bioconductor statistical platform, where he participated in the development of several widely used packages. Since becoming a researcher, he has been involved in numerous projects, some of which are large-scale and international. Since he became a professor in 2012, he has supervised many graduate students. His laboratory is now made up of a large team, including around 10 research professionals, supported by a high-caliber IT infrastructure.

In addition, he sits on the team of directors of the “Canadian National Proteomics Network” (www.cnpn.ca), of the big data research center of Laval University (www.crdm.ulaval.ca). Dr. Droit recently received an Étoile Effervescence from Montréal InVivo recognizing the excellence of its research program and its many fruitful partnerships with private industries. He is also principal investigator of a research chair in digital biology with L’Oréal.
